Mary J. Blige in the New York Post

Mary J. Blige refused to change her name to Mary Brown when her management suggested she do so during her early years in the music business. “It’s like I didn’t want to get rid of anything that meant something to me,” Blige told “CBS Sunday Morning” host Byron Pitts. “My name is all I had. That’s the only thing I could . . . I can identify with.” Blige has a new album, “My Life II — The Journey Continues (Act 1).” The full interview airs Sunday.
